Fashion Revolution Week 2023

Fashion Revolution Week 2023

What is Fashion Revolution week?

Fashion Revolution is a global movement that advocates for a more sustainable, ethical, and transparent fashion industry. It was founded in the wake of the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh in 2013, which claimed the lives of over 1,100 garment workers. Fashion Revolution seeks to raise awareness about the social and environmental impacts of the fashion industry and to promote positive change through advocacy, education, and collaboration.

The movement is best known for its annual Fashion Revolution Week campaign, which takes place in April around the anniversary of the Rana Plaza disaster. During this week, consumers are encouraged to ask, "Who made my clothes?" and to demand greater transparency and accountability from fashion brands. The campaign includes a variety of events, workshops, and social media campaigns aimed at raising awareness about the issues facing the fashion industry and promoting sustainable and ethical alternatives.

How do we set ourselves apart from fast fashion?

We at ERIBÉ emphasize sustainability and reducing waste in our slow fashion processes. We knit most of our garments to order for our customers, taking care not to overproduce, and using only the necessary amount of natural materials required for each carefully fashioned sweater. This approach enables us to minimize our impact on the environment and reduce textile waste.

Our focus on slow fashion is reflected in the careful and intentional approach we take toward our production processes. Sustainability and ethical practices are at the forefront of everything we do, and we strive to minimize our impact on the environment, by using natural materials such as wool and avoiding synthetic fibres that are harmful to the planet. We are experts in our field and want to educate the wonder of wool. Our garments are designed to be time-honoured, versatile, and durable so that you can wear them for years to come.

Taking pride in finding creative ways to repurpose our leftover materials, we collaborate with @saxbydogclothing to make adorable Fairisle dog coats from garment panels that we cannot use. This ensures that even our waste materials are put to effective use.

With longevity in mind, we design our knitwear to be a timeless addition to your wardrobe that you can cherish for years to come. We create products to be worn, loved, and lived in, making a strong stance against the ‘throw-away fashion’ we see so often in our industry.

It is important for us to build personal relationships with our customers, stockists, and agents. We want you to feel valued and cherished when wearing our woollen ERIBÉ knits. Our goal is to spread joy through our creations, and we hope you feel that positivity when you wear them.

As part of our commitment to fair labour practices, we pay our employees a real living wage. We believe that our workplace should feel like a second home, where everyone feels welcome and supported. We foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and inclusivity, where like-minded individuals can work towards the same goal of creating beautiful, sustainable knitwear.

Who makes your clothes?

Woolly Towers

In 1986, ERIBÉ started from humble beginnings, but the opening of Woolly Towers in 2020 marked a new and exciting chapter for us. Although building a new factory can be a challenging task, it has been an incredible journey for our team. Having control over our production process has allowed us the freedom to innovate, explore our creativity to the fullest, and manufacture our top-quality garments to meet the high standards that our customers have come to expect from us.

The Scottish Borders is a region renowned worldwide for its excellence in knitwear, with a rich heritage spanning hundreds of years. Situated in the heart of this beautiful area, on the banks of the river Tweed and surrounded by open countryside, is Woolly Towers - the home of ERIBÉ Knitwear. Our highly skilled production team is dedicated to their craft, and they are committed to preserving the hereditary skills and expertise that make Scottish knitwear so exceptional.

Our state-of-the-art machines are powered by green energy, allowing us to operate sustainably. Each garment part is individually knitted in small batches, and our team of highly skilled technicians meticulously link them together. To provide the softest possible finish, our garments are washed in pure Scottish water.

ERIBÉ Knitwear LTD Manufacturing

Crafting the iconic Alpine yoke is a complex task that requires highly skilled individuals and specialized machinery. The yoke's intricate design can contain up to multiple colours, making it challenging to knit. Our team of experts takes great care and utilizes their advanced skills to create this unique feature on our garments.

Our family-owned factory in Bulgaria employs a team of 15 highly skilled individuals, led by the owner, with specialized roles. Together, they work diligently to create our garments with precision and care, ensuring that our products are of exceptional quality.

Who makes our yarn?

ERIBÉ is dedicated to utilizing solely premium materials in the creation of our knitwear. That's why we source our wool from a family-owned company based in Yorkshire, England, that shares our values and commitment to sustainability and ethical practices. Our Merino Lambswool is carefully selected for its superior softness, warmth, and durability, ensuring that your ERIBÉ garment will provide you with years of comfort and pleasure.

We take pride in our ethical sourcing practices, which involve working directly with our suppliers to ensure that our wool is responsibly and sustainably produced. By partnering with this family-owned business, we can guarantee that the wool we use meets our rigorous standards for quality and environmental responsibility. When you choose an ERIBÉ garment, you can be confident that you are supporting sustainable and ethical practices while enjoying the finest quality knitwear.

At ERIBÉ Knitwear, we strongly believe that fashion should not harm people or the environment. Therefore, we advocate for the principles of slow fashion and its positive impact on the industry. We prioritize sustainability and ethical practices in our production processes, striving to reduce our environmental impact.

We invite you to join us in this movement toward a more responsible and sustainable fashion industry!
