In this month’s Shop focus we want to shine a light on our fabulously unique Cotswold’s based stockist, The Burford Garden Company.
Founded in 1975 by Nigel Johnson and his family, Burford Garden Company has grown into a one-of-a-kind destination store for those seeking a unique and “non-corporate retail utopia” containing a curated mixture of gardenia, home decor, furniture, art, clothing and food.
Burford sells a handpicked selection that includes Eribé alongside a mix of select products, with new collections arriving weekly. Along with the reassurance that you are going to get something special, the team guarantee quality and unmatched customer service. The company’s aim is to delight the senses at every turn and make your shopping experience a fun and exciting one. Their website describes the store as ‘a magical emporium, theatrical and inspirational, with highly creative, imaginative displays’. These displays include giant string lit orchid trees, stunning vintage wine bottle chandeliers and romantic Italian rose arbours.
Their enticing marketplace area offers offering eclectic, exotica and intriguingly different items. From beautiful knitwear and handcrafted furniture to vintage jewellery, original art and weirdly wonderful plants, many of which are one of a kind. This is where you will find our very own Eribé Knitwear, described by Burford’s director Louise Johnson as designs that “make you smile.”
We are extremely happy to be included amongst the quality items on sales at the store and are proud to count Louise amongst our fans. Louise recently shared her thoughts on our brand with us, saying “The vibrant colours of the Fairisle cardigans and gloves light up our winter! We love that Eribé take traditional designs and turns them into stylish and beautiful garments that will last for years.”
Burford share Eribé’s ethical and social conscious and for over ten years Burford Garden Company has had a Social Enterprise partnership with Aspire Oxford, a charity which works to tackle homelessness and disadvantage in the community. Burford provide mentoring, management and financial support for the charity free of charge. They have an on-site Heritage Kitchen Garden, where Aspire is able to rehabilitate and encourage those in need back in to a stable working environment. We are proud to count The Burford Garden Company amongst our cherished stockists. Rosemary Eribé visits personally to work closely with the buyer and together they often develop limited edition products unique to Burford.
