Knitting Events

Looking for a new hobby that lets you relax, keeps your mind sharp and also lets you be creative? Then hand-knitting is for you!

ERIBÉ is considered a world-renowned expert in hand-knitting and we pride ourselves on preserving this traditional craft. In keeping with the goal of preservation, we wanted to create a series of events where we could share the joy of knitting with the world. Hand-knitting is a wonderfully social and therapeutic hobby. Our hand-knitting events are the perfect way to promote Scotland as the home of knitting, craftsmanship and quality.

Throughout the years, we have hosted free hand-knitting events in UK, Germany and Japan. We love teaching children and adults new skills, making new friends and having a chat at these events. All the ERIBÉ team are keen on hand-knitting; we all knit constantly in our spare time!

Looking for some interesting and inclusive entertainment at your corporate event? Our hand-knitting events could be shaped to fit any space or occasion, email on enquiries@eribe.com or call on +44 (0)1896 755540.

In 2012, ERIBÉ created their first large-scale knitting event called Wool-tastic! for the National Musem of Scotland, Edinburgh as part of the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival. Over 400 people attended throughout the weekend! The event spun the tale of wool and British knitting heritage for children and adults alike. At Wool-tastic!, ERIBÉ invited the public to get hands-on with natural wool; activities included finger knitting, making your own knitted rabbit, winding a pom-pom or helping with a community scarf project. Wool-tastic! celebrated knitting’s place in the long standing history of British craftsmanship. Knitting comes in many forms and there are plenty of myths on how this clever craft came to be. The event explored the four tales of British knitting; Fair Isle, Guernsey, Aran and Lace.

2012 / Casting the Net in Eyemouth, Scotland

Organised by Borders Arts Trust, Casting the Net aimed to cast a fresh light on the rich cultural heritage of land and sea. Looking at links between the coast and inland and the flow of ideas in both directions, Casting the Net brings new life to spaces left empty after a decline in the fishing and textiles industries. For this event, one of our hand-knit designers created an easy fish pattern for visitors to knit. We were also lucky enough to get a demonstration from one of the participants, how to spin yarn with just a twig.
